twenty questions

not really…i think there are only 10.  but hopefully these will help answer some common questions.

with lifestyle photography, imagination reigns.  there are no stuffy rules to worry about, so we have the freedom to capture authentic images of you and your family, being YOU.  it has often been described as “setting the stage” and then we allow your story to unfold naturally.  our style is largely documentary + infused with natural light.  it’s classic photojournalism with a whole new twist.

let’s see.  having two of us, means more complete coverage for you.  which means more unexpected photos, more candid moments, more spontaneous smiles + hugs + smooches.   plus, we each bring a unique vibe to our sessions.  that’s more vision, more ideas + more interaction.  any way you slice it, having both of us = more photo goddess goodness.

bellies and babies are so much fun, but timing your session can be important.  for maternity shoots, we recommend planning your session for  your 7th month.  you’ll be glowing + excited + you’ll look and feel great. we’ll also consider factors such as location + weather because comfort is key.

as for newborn sessions, we approach them with lots of extra care.  we suggest planning your session for sometime during baby’s first 7-14 days at home.  yes, it’s soon, but it’s almost always the perfect window, when new babies are still teeny-tiny + a bit sleepy.  whenever we are invited to photograph new life, we do so quietly + unobtrusively.  giving you space to relax + breathe + to relish in the joys of new parenthood. newborn sessions have no time limits and remain flexible, so your entire experience is carefree + peaceful.

clothing is a very important consideration when planning your session.  your choices should compliment the style and location of our shoot.  remember, you’ll want to avoid looking overly coordinated.  make selections that represent the best version of your fashion sense.  you’ll want to be able to move comfortably too.  good things to add are texture + layers + colors.  in some ways, anything goes.  don’t be afraid to wear patterns or graphic prints, especially for modern families or couples.  if in doubt, bring a few options, it’s always fun to mix it up.

and as always, we’re here to offer suggestions or to talk with you about how to make the most of your clothing options.

because we photograph on-location and utilize natural light as much as possible, sessions are typically scheduled for 2 hours before sunset.  for newborns and little ones, late mornings can be terrific.

although we shoot a large number of images during each session, we take time and care to select only the best images for your gallery presentation.  you can expect your preview to include between 30-40 images.

our style lends itself to a blend of both color and black & white images.  you will likely see some of both in your gallery, but not always.  many times, this depends on the nature of your images and our artistic vision.  you’ll have to trust us on this one.

you’ll have a full seven days to view + share your online gallery.  take advantage of it!  watch the slideshow 100 times if you want.  but remember to use this time to narrow down your selections and make your purchasing decisions too.  should you need the gallery preview re-posted again, there is a $50 fee to do so.

and of course, if you would like us to assist you in the design + display process, we will be glad to come to your home and meet with you to talk about your options.  just tell us what you have in mind and we’ll work within your budget to create the perfect arrangement.  there are literally, countless creative ways to showcase your photo-art.

that’s a very good question…and yes, you will have the option of purchasing a complete set of the gallery images from your session.  we absolutely understand that these are valuable memories and we want you to be able to share + print + cherish them forever.  our clients love having this option, it’s comforting.  plus, it makes selecting creative + unique display options for your home less stressful and more fun.  you’ll always have a full set of photos to come back to.

we guess that depends.   a good friend once asked us “isn’t that like having your haircut at Great Clips”?  she couldn’t have been more right.
in life, there are lots of less expensive options available.  some things like store brand peanut butter or half price hair products may not matter much in 5 years, but your family photos…now that’s an entirely different story.

what we are trying to say is that you’re making an investment in custom photography.  and with that, comes expert advice, a full service experience and beautiful quality artwork that will not only be spectacular to look at, but it will last for years to come.  with everything you’ve put into your session, do you really want to skimp on the printing?  it’s the icing on the cake.

and don’t get us wrong, we love Target too.  there you can get great deals on lamps + frames + bath towels.  it’s just not the place to print your heirloom album.
